It looks like the year has just started, but 2018 is already halfway. Time flies when you’re having fun 😉
The month of June wouldn’t have been so spectacular without our win at the MEST Africa Challenge. A full detail about this challenge and all other things we were up in June is 👇
MEST Africa Challenge
In our April Update, we mentioned our win at the Lagos edition of the MEST Africa Challenge. Well, the final round of the challenge held on the 20th during the MEST Africa Summit in Cape Town, where we emerged the winner and walked away with the grand prize, an equity investment of $50,000. Accounteer competed against Ghana’s Cowtribe, Kenya’s Data Integrated, and South Africa’s Swift Vee.
We are grateful to MEST Africa for the opportunity and belief in our project. We also thank our customers for always being supportive.
Online Master Class
On the 23rd of this month, we had our first online master class, themed “How to Position your Business for Investments.” Topics like:
- how to know if your business is fundable
- how to keep your record for investments
- how to source for investors
…to mention a few were discussed. Pitch deck samples were also explored.
The participants didn’t leave “empty-handed” as tools needed for business growth were shared with the participants. You might want to attend the next one coming up soon to see what the first set enjoyed.
More details of the next online master class will be conveyed when due.

SMEDAN SME Programme
We were one of the final 6 businesses that were selected in respect to “Commercialization and Empowerment of SMEs Program” organized by the SMEDAN office.
After 2 rounds of pitching sections, more than 30 other startups were dropped and we emerged as one of the best tools best positioned to help SMEs in the country.
This selection strengthens our excellent relationship with SMEDAN and other government agencies. The mission of Accounteer perfectly aligns with the goals of SMEDAN. Helping small businesses thrive by professionalising their business finances.
VP visits VP
The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo paid a visit to Ventures Park. A visit to the park would not be complete without stopping by the Accounteer office. Accounteer representative, Simi Adejumo explained how Accounteer works and how it helps Nigerian businesses grow.
Entrepreneur in the Spotlight — Aderinsola Adegbenro — CEO of Pinnacle Risk Advisory
Showcasing the hard-working and purpose-driven entrepreneurs community is one of the ways we support other businesses and help them grow. This month’s Entrepreneur in the Spotlight was Aderinsola Adegbenro, the MD/CEO of Pinnacle Risk Advisory Ltd, a private risk advisory management agency that offers a variety of specialized insurance and risk management services. They serve as middlemen between clients and underwriting partners to ensure a dynamic relationship.
Product Update
Recurring invoices
You requested it, and here it is. You no longer have to manually send invoices at every interval to a customer. It saves time and it is very convenient.
To access, simply sign up here, or log into your account if you already have one to create your first recurring invoice.
Inventory
As promised, a more advanced inventory module including stock levels was finally launched. It’s a long-awaited improvement that was long overdue. We are super excited it is eventually here.
Improved User Access Rights
You can now choose between edit and approve for invoices and purchases. Users with edit rights can prepare draft invoices/purchases. Users with approve rights can create and approve invoices/purchases.
API
We’ve expanded the number of endpoints available and also allow you to place afilter on some of the endpoints. E.g. get all the invoices created by person X in month Y. You can read the complete API documentation here.
Our API allows external developers to create powerful integrations. You can leverage on the Accounteer network to commercialize your solution to thousands of SMEs in Nigeria and across Africa.

Multi-currency
As your business expands you need to process transactions in multiple currencies. This can be a tedious process taking into account all the exchange rate differences. Worry no more, let Accounteer take care of all your multi-currency needs.
Payroll
Payroll has been requested by many of you. While it might still take some time before the payroll module is released we’re pleased to announce we’ve started development and we’ll keep you updated on the progress.
