The holidays have arrived and the weather is FINALLY starting to warm up again, so now is the time to have all of the adventures that you’ve been pining for during those long, monotonous school days. There is a tonne of awesome things to check out in Perth these holidays, so what are you waiting for?! Here are some must-dos during these holidays:

IGA Perth Royal Show

No matter your budget, there are stacks of great things to do and see at this year’s Royal Show. All of the major attractions are 100% free, including performances by hypnotist Shane St James, the Voice winner Sam Perry, and everyone’s favourite Aussie icon, Shannon Noll! If you’re a bit of a thrill seeker, be sure to check out sideshow alley for all your favourite rides. Then stick around into the evening for a deep-fried taco or a good ol’ Dagwood dog while you enjoy the spectacular fireworks show!

Galaxy Drive-in

The Galaxy Drive-in in Kingsley is the last drive-in cinema left in Perth, and at just $9–10 per person for two movies, it’s a bit of a steal! Pack yourself a cute picnic or grab some takeaway, stock the car up with pillows and blankets and enjoy a fantastic night out with your friends or loved ones! Just don’t forget to take some cash as they don’t accept EFTPOS.

Ice Skating

Ice skating is such a fun way to get out of the house and do some exercise all while having a laugh with your friends. Get a group of friends together indulge your inner kid at arenas in Bibra Lake, Mirrabooka and Malaga.

Glowing Swings at Kings Square

Glowing swings are the City of Perth’s coolest new installation and will be lighting up Kings Square until October 12th. The swings are available to the public every day from 12–8 pm, with live music playing every Saturday from 5 to 8 pm. While you’re there, take advantage of V-Burgers’ offer to buy one burger and get the second half price. Then, top it all off with a delicious dessert from Gusto Gelato.

Freo markets

Fremantle is the perfect place to spend a relaxed afternoon, filled with yummy food and great entertainment. The indoor markets are open Friday-Sunday and have an excellent range of cute trinkets, fashion, food, drink and even fresh produce. Grab yourself a fresh gözleme or an artisanal doughnut and take in a show from the incredible buskers that perform right outside the market doors. If the weather is clear, you might also want to pop down to Esplanade Park for a ride on the Ferris wheel!

Bounce

It’s definitely not just for kids! Bounce in Cannington has recently had an upgrade and is better than ever. Decked out with more than 50 interconnected trampolines, including trampoline dodgeball and basketball courts, this massive indoor playground is sure to put a spring in your step!

Indoor picnic and movie marathon

Fancy a chilled night at home? Why not feast on all your favourite movies and snacks from the comfort of your own living room? Lay out some blankets, get each of your friends to bring along their favourite food and fire up the Netflix, it’s time for an indoor picnic!

Mini golf

Head out to Wembley golf course for a mini golf experience like no other in Perth. This 18 hole course is landscaped to be a literal representation of a scaled-down golf course (with a few extra traps and obstacles for added fun of course). You can play beginner, intermediate or advanced levels on each of the holes, so no matter your skill level it’s bound to be fun for everyone.

Westfield’s augmented reality pop-up

Internationally acclaimed artist duo Craig & Karl’s newest installation comes in the form of ZOOM, a blown up, interactive experience of everyday items. The exaggerated size of each of these items, including an 8-foot tall burger and an enormous pair of high heels, is designed to encourage the viewer to rethink how they fit into society. But don’t worry, it’s not all just about metaphors and symbolism, you can also download the ZOOM app to scan the trigger points on the installations and see the animations come to life. Don’t forget to snap a photo or video for social media while you’re at it to score yourself a free set completely exclusive Craig and Karl puffer stickers!
