The Answers to tomorrow’s problems are only a step away.

In her Ted Talk, Dr. Elsie Moses-Hoeg shows how we all have a role in building the next generation of problem solvers.

She describes two very important things we need to be doing with our children. The first step is learning how to embrace our own ambiguity. The next time we are faced with a challenge we can be role models for our children. We can show that even though it is hard, we can grow, adapt and “go for it”. We need to show them how to struggle.

The second thing we need to do is stop answering our children’s questions. She notes that when we do that we are telling them we don’t think they can figure it out for themselves. We need to let them struggle and that we believe in them.

She states that when we can do these things we are creating a generation of thinkers that will be able to become “professors of their own learning”. They will have the skills to solve the problems of today and tomorrow. Our future is in their hands.
