From the first day any child steps into the classroom, the prime goal of teachers is to guide the little child to identify the unique sounds of the alphabets and then launched into a world of learning to read complex constructions as the child progresses through the academic ladder.
Education is all about reading tons of books. But did you know reading has some amazing benefits for you?
Apart from discovering new knowledge, improving your vocabulary, boosting your analytical skills, enhancing your memory, and making you seem sexier, did you know reading reduces stress too?
In all, what matters the most is owning a library at home. The availability of quality literature at your disposal, and constantly reading them, gives you a competitive wealth of knowledge ahead of your peers. The big question is, “Is quality literature easily and readily accessible?”
Forgive Venunye Adifu, a final year BSC Information Technology student has joined the few young people who have picked up the trade of making books readily available to many readers. The young ACitizen has created a budding online bookstore www.flipapagegh.com to serve readers with books from diverse genres.
Here is a conversation we had with Forgive on her venture.
What business do you own?
I created Flip-A-Page Bookstore, a Ghanaian based online bookstore in August 2019 after the unpleasant experience of surfing every corner of the internet to purchase a design book.
How beneficial has studying IT in ACity been for your business?
I am passionate about business and IT. To have great IT skills, constant practice is key. ACity’s practical knowledge acquisition process has helped enhance my skills in programming and frontend development, specifically UIUX design, which is pivotal in getting Flip-A-Page Bookstore going. I single-handedly developed www.flipapagegh.com for my bookstore!
What areas have been key to the growth of your business?
Customer service and viable marketing strategies have been the bedrock of my business growth. In 2017, a Social Media Marketing Workshop organized by the career services department of ACity introduced me to some important details which have since helped in the efficient management of the store.
What do you hope to achieve soon?
“A READER LIVES A THOUSAND LIVES BEFORE HE DIES…”
My mission is to see many more Africans reading, and my role in achieving this is to make books easily accessible to people all over Africa, right at their doorstep.
