Meet Lam Nghiem, a member of ACM!

With all this craziness going around, how’s quarantine treating you so far?
Quarantine hasn’t been too bad for me so far, but I do miss eating out and hanging out with friends though. I try to do different things once in a while so, I don’t get into a routine. I started baking more and messing around with makeup. Overall, quarantine has given me a lot of free time.

What made you want to join ACM??
My suitemates, who are in ACM, were talking about it, and it sounded pretty fun. I also wanted to be more social and get out of my comfort zone, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to do so.

Is there anything you look forward to doing after quarantine?
I for sure want to eat KBBQ and go shopping with friends once this is all over. Overall, I really miss dressing up and going out. I can’t wait to do that again.

What is your to-go milk tea order?
I usually go for milk tea creamas, cheese foams, or whatever they call it. I usually like getting pudding instead of pearls tbh. Also, I have a huge sweet tooth, so definitely 100% sweetness. Anything below 80% sweetness tastes too watered down to me.

If you could tell your past self going into college something that you know now, what would it be?
I’d probably tell myself to get out more and don’t be so afraid to meet new people and make friends. During my first quarter at UCSD, I was super shy, and I rarely went to school events. I may or may not have spent most of my time in my room alone before I made the friends I have now…But I think I’m a bit more outgoing now and it’s thanks to all the wonderful and supportive friends I’ve made so far.

What’s an inspirational quote that helps you get through these tough times and could help us too?
It’s not really a quote, but I always tell myself things will turn out alright in the end and to be thankful for what I have now. We’re going through some pretty difficult times, but I’m glad we’re still able to keep in touch with each other online. Staying positive has really helped me through tough times. I hope it’ll help others during this time as well.

And last but not least, our member spotlight’s self-selected meme!
