Introduction to Acting for Theatre, Film and Series (the Collection)

I probably should have written this first, but I wanted to get the bit about Confidence off my chest, so there you have it.

I’m a method actor, of the Lee Strasberg variety, having the joy of being mentored by a wonderfully talented woman, Deborah DeWitt. I first dabbled in acting in 1999, at the tender age of 14, but didn’t get serious about it until about a year later. I’ve since then done a lot of theatre, independent film, and some television.

In this collection, I’m going to try and pass on a lot of the things my mentor passed onto me, and tricks and traditions I’ve picked up along the way myself. I’ll also try to convince my mentor to write up some articles for us, we’ll see if I can be victorious in that effort.

You’ll probably notice that I didn’t include the words TV or Television in the title of the collection. Well, that’s because “television shows” are now happening on the web, and it’s important to consider that as an actor you may just as easily be working on a TV show as a web series. And that’s no longer a frowned upon thing (hint: House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, etc).
