As companies hastily rush on the AI bandwagon, here’s a cautionary tale of how not to dive right into Generative AI. On X (formerly Twitter), a user shared his amusing interaction with a car dealership’s chatbot. Realizing it was powered by ChatGPT, he playfully instructed the bot to sell him a vehicle for one dollar.

He included the disclaimer “no backsies,” which is legit on any playground.

To his surprise — and our amusement, the bot obliged.

While this incident serves as a great laugh, it’s far from an isolated case. It echoes a troubling pattern among corporations who rush to deploy AI without thorough planning or understanding the potential consequences for security, privacy and customer engagement.

Earlier this year, for example, Samsung employees, using ChatGPT, accidentally exposed sensitive company data, as detailed and reported by TechRadar.
