From Facebook’s response
#TCA for the country to be a better progressive nation, we need to be positive in our Speeches. I don’t support hate speech. But the APC led government are witnessing the bitter pill of their recalcitrant.
They started the hate speech and if they most end it, they have to apologise to those they have caused harm with words. The hate speech act is a welcome development but policing people on social media is not a very good approach….#TCA On a candid note it is. ADP as a political party should stand to prevent anything that will tier the peaceful coexistence of the nation apart. we should embrace more technical ways to present our arguments. remember, they said: what goes around comes around. when you are there u need nothing but a constructive criticism to succeed.
#TCA Its not healthy at all, APC it self came to power through the use of like speeches, They did all in there power to black paint PDP. ADP should expose their (APC ) ills so we go represent our people justly.
From WhatsApp response
#TCA The government of the day should make consultations on what led to hate speech because never a time have we been this divided in our nationhood as a people. There are a lot of dissatisfaction among Nigerians which have been neglected.
#TCA In a working democracy one does not commit a crime by a mere speech. A speech loaded with hatred does not translate into a crime unless a furtherance or acting upon the speech that then turns into a crime. However, inciting to commit a crime can be prosecuted under the law. Again, under a working democracy there are laws under which hate crimes can be defined and prosecuted. In my years of service, I have never heard of anything called a Hate Speech Act. I suppose those who agreed on making Nigeria great again ought to chip in here. We all have a huge amount of work to do, especially those aiming for public offices…
as for me, I would like to see laws that would make Nigeria looking great…#TCA As for as my concern there is nothing like hate speech but bad governance, once the government concentrate in it responsibility of giving good governance the issue of hate speech will die a natural death.
#TheCredibleAltenative no to the suppression, intimidation, clampdown and disdain of opposition parties in the guise of hate speeches.
#TCA There is no hate speech in Nigeria. Every thing said is a reflection of bad governance those in authority created.
#TCA No its is totally pathetic because it will link to other union secret meaning spying and every where in the world there is a punishment for spying
So the federal government should look into there idea for balancing of Democracy achievement in the country and society at large#TCA It’s undemocratic and no freedom of expression and at the same time breaking into people’s privacy
#TCA Should do more More physically than on social media
#TCA Well for me the proposition of the Act is not right as the government is not the one to monitor the citizens activities rather it should be otherwise based on the principle of democracy
And looking at the whole scenario that has played out recently on hate speeches, hate songs and hate demonstration on social media, I think everyone should be blamed. The Government, the Governed and the Medium. For the Government they are the ones that incite the use of hate speech against one another, the governed all project it and blow it out of proportion, the social media which cannot be controlled as everyone has equal right for his/her thoughts, opinion on issues of National interest. But the handlers of the social media even the conventional media should be talk to such that there should be control on what is being posted using their platforms
