In August and September I published two pieces on tourism as a series of four, and I still plan to write the remaining 2 pieces in the series as I prepare for my keynote at the Circular Tourism conference on Mallorca at the end of November 2019. Here are the first two articles:

Below is a recording of the keynote presentation I gave at the Travel to Tomorrow Summit organised by Visit Flanders in Bruges, on September 12th and 13th, 2019.

The presentation explores how climate change now urges a fundamental redesign of the human presence and impact on Earth, and how tourism with its cross-sectorial and global-local impact could be turned from being a growing problem into a solution for regional regeneration and the improvement of local climate resilience.

This presentation is somewhat challenging to people in the industry and climate activists alike, and yet, I firmly belief that “we are all crew own spaceship Earth” and we will have to work together to achieve the rapid transition now needed in the time left.
