1994 年 IBM 開賣全世界第一支智慧型手機，沒有人能預期到短短 20、30 年間，智慧型手機會取代電視、電腦、筆記本，徹底改變現代人的生活習慣。同一年美國華盛頓的某個車庫裡創立的線上書店，也在這短短 20、30 年內，改變了人們出門消費的習慣，成為目前全球最大的網路零售商 Amazon。20 世紀的我們沒有想過 21 世紀的生活會變成什麼模樣，那麼或許可以讓現在的我們來幻想一下，22 世紀的地球是不是會距離哆啦 A 夢的世界更近一點？現在的智慧型手機會進化到什麼樣子？未來的商業模式又會有什麼樣的改變呢？
在精算界，舊有的精算軟體似乎離「現代」這兩個字還有數步之遙。打個比方，「目前的」精算軟體與「理想上的」精算軟體就很像 Nokia 3310 與 iPhone 的差異，前者僅很好地滿足人類通訊的需求；後者則發掘出許多人類潛在的需求。
市面上的精算軟體確實輔助精算人員完成建模工作，然而精算人員平均要花上 7 年的時間才能精通這些軟體，因為過程中必須額外學會 coding 才能順利使用。而保險業複雜、封閉的系統，造成效率減損與溝通障礙；隨著保險數位化、金融科技、保險商品個人化的發展，「精算」的深厚價值似乎還無法完整被體現、延伸運用。
就像是人工智慧（Artificial Intelligence, AI）的發展歷程，過去雖然已經有完整的概念研究與階段式應用，但是直到近年來大數據和電腦運算能力的蓬勃發展，才隨之快速普及。「精算」也是，過去礙於資料、應用技術、運算能力等的不足，無法延伸出許多應用，但如今皆達到一定門檻，才能讓傳統上不被大眾熟悉的「精算」有機會發揮更大的影響力。更何況，新時代的需求同時也不斷地產生或被創造出來。
ActuaViz 的誕生
早安午安晚安大家好我們是 ActuaViz（ㄟ戳 V始）。
2020 年夏天，我們在備受疫情影響的某間飯店二樓會議室成立了團隊。
由擁有業界精算實務經驗的 Joseph 創辦，ActuaViz 聚集一群來自不同專業領域的人才：保險精算、商業營運、資訊技術，由學術界的權威學者擔任顧問，一起開啟一段充滿挑戰且未知的新旅途、新事業！
ActuaViz 由「精算（Actuarial）」技術與「視覺化 （Visualization）」科技組合而成，也簡述了我們的初衷：
將複雜難懂的「精算」技術以「視覺化」科技呈現，並讓精算的價值能夠進一步彰顯和運用。
ActuaViz 希望讓精算軟體往「視覺化」的趨勢發展，具象化過去抽象的模型公式、簡化建模的過程，讓精算師能專心在建模，而不用分心撰寫程式和重複溝通。除了改善原本精算工具的缺點，未來我們也將更進一步串接各種系統，結合「商業智能」，讓決策者充分透過精算的價值做出最佳決策。
未來，ActuaViz 將大幅降低運用精算的門檻，使所有具有「長期負債」的各行各業都能夠利用精算的價值，形成「百業精算」。當然也能進行個人的長期規劃，讓大企業、小公司、至每一個人都能透過「精算」實現對未來的承諾。
