AGRECOFARMS: An interview with the head of the company

From the very beginning, we select to be brand ambassadors of this famous and competitive agency, we were determined that we will present the whole route of this agency, analyzing every necessary information people should know about. Of course, it wasn’t an easy route, on the opposite, I would call it as” a tough challenge” which needed full attention and comprehension. To be honest, our mission would have been much more difficult, if we hadn’t contact with the Commercial Manager of Grecotel Hotels And Resorts, and head of AgrecoFarms, Mr. George Markoulakis.

Mr. Markoulakis, from the first moment ,was willing, to answer our questions and solve our dilemmas. Also, he encouraged us to not hesitate to ask him every detail we want to acknowledge. The head of Agrecofarms and one of the close associates of Nikos Daskalantonis, the owner of Grecotel(biggest hotel chain in Greece) has had to deal with a load of work while we were preparing our project, since the hotel season opens on March. That was the reason he couldn’t attend to our presentation on “AD DISCOVERY LAB” about Agreco and explain us his vision.

The multitalented manager and I, had a long phone conversation. His character’s modesty turned from the very beginning our interview into a friendly conversation. He started by referring me the historical route of Agreco, when it was established, from who and how it became such a famous brand around the globe.

He mentioned that AgrecoFarm established in 2002, in the dream village of Adele, near Rethymno from Nikos Daskalantonakis who predicted the growth potential of the place and invested a lot in his dream.

Having done a lot of research on the company with the crew members, no one couldn’t find where does the name “Agreco” comes from, so my next question was the origin of the name. He laughed at first and then started narrating me the story from the day when the name “Agreco” took shape. According to Mr. Markoulakis, it was a typical board meeting when they took the decision of the name. “Agreco” combines 3 words that perfectly describe the company’s profile.

Firstly it starts with the world “agriculture” which is one of the company’s service, secondly, it contains the word “eco” which is one of the values of the company. Finally, it contains the initial letters of “Grecotel” which is the parent company.

Moving on to the next question, I asked about the variety of products that mark with the label of “Agreco’. The company produces a wide range of biologically, distinct Cretan diet products and bath and body care products with the trade name “Eau De Grece”.

The radically increased in sales, forced “Agreco” to search for collaboration with producers since, the capability of the farm couldn’t pleasure the heavy demand. According to Mr. Markoulakis that turned into a good point because “Agreco” started cooperating with local producers in order to fulfill the high demand, which now is one of the first values of the company. Mr. Markoulakis at this point marked me that nowadays AgrecoFarms has become a cornerstone for the local economy and has succeeded a harmonious relationship with the employees, the local producers and authorities.

The interview was at its most interesting level and it was time to ask about AgrecoFarms marketing strategy. Every Agreco client has noticed the bright colors on the packaging of the products, the alien images and the calligraphic letters. The charismatic manager explained to me that the diversity of the packaging leads customers to choose Agreco products in markets with huge shelves with the same products.

Last but not least, I asked him about the mission of the company and he tersely answered that in Agreco are dreaming every customer to adopt the alternative high nutritional die combining high quality organic certified products.
