Colibri- The Journey

It all started when the 4 of us during a typical day in our University met some Erasmus students. We bumped into eached other and started having a really fun conversation. It was at this moment we knew that Erasmus students face a lot of problems in their daily life away from their home country and decided to do something for it.

So we quickly formed our team “460_degrees marketeers” (Nikos,Thakis,Maria and Spyros) and started working on launching the Colibri app. So what is Colibri?

Colibri its an app which helps newcomers Erasmus students to adjust in their new environment. Firstly the app helps them to find accommodation (such as a nice apartment )in a very good price. The other three bases are food,fun and meeting new people. Colibri aims to expand in order to help simple travelers and be a simple travel guide.

Firstly,we searched for our competitors. We found some services that are active in some areas and offer specific things that we also offer but we didn’t find some service that combines it all at once. Our main competitors is basically ESN because it’s active at most Erasmus Universities and helps you find a Erasmus buddy that is your mentor at the first days of your stay and organizes Erasmus parties but it isn’t really active at the area of accommodation and creating alternative and awesome experiences, neither has a chat that gives you the opportunity to meet new people from your new home.

So , having found or main idea we continued to the next step to fulfill our vision. So we started “empathizing” and started asking Erasmus Students from every place we knew to try and help us improve our idea. We made a questionnaire, we chatted with them,we found them in our University and asked them to point out their main problems. That helped us to understand the main problems of our app such as that we didn’t really have considered the part of an unexpected emergency and decided to add some information about Health centers,emergency numbers etc. Also, their advice to create a user-friendly site helped us understand the structure our site and our app must have. However,getting feedback never ends and we promise that we are going to be better and better.

After all that, we started forming our site and made our prototype. Based on the advice that we have received and having understood the way that we must facing our problems we made our site and our social media as much as friendly they could be to the users.

Based on World cafe and speed dating methodologies we made the alternations we considered important to improve our site and talked with experts that helped us understand the mentality a service like Collibri must have.

At last, we decided to promote the Colibri app via our Social media and we our now planning to continue advertising our app with native ads and campaigns in Metro Stations.
