Creating ‘’The Foc Company’’
During this semester in our class “Introduction to advertising and PR”, our professor, Miss Tsakarestou, has assigned us some projects. One of them was the “Startup Project”, in which we had to create from the beginning our own startup company. We already had teams from the previous projects in that lesson. So, the first step was to get inspired and decide what kind of business we wanted to run.
We all four of us love travelling. Together or separate we have travelled a lot. USA, Denmark, France, Ukraine, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria are only some of the countries we have been. There, we have observed the foreigners, their language, their food, their culture in general. We have learned about their history and their habits. As we came back, we were discussing for fun if we can establish a company. The idea was to bring our memories and our experiences in a clever way to our country, our home, Greece. We wanted other people to see what we saw, learn in a different way what happens abroad every day. So, the first option was to open an exotic restaurant or one with multiple flavors. But that’s something in common. We wanted to be one step ahead, something brand new. And now with this assignment we finally decided: clothing “FROM OTHER COUNTRIES”. The concept will be as the one of the vintages shops.
The vision of the company has six sides. We want our brand to offer more options and influences the way Greek people dress up. Also, it’s a chance to bring elements of other cultures from abroad. We would like at the same time to ensure that the company will be well known and profitable. In our calendar, we have in our priorities to organize events, collaborate with other companies and create campaigns with celebrities or intellectual people.
Moreover, we had the concept and the name: “The FOC Company”. We had to pick the role each of us should take. If a company wants to be run correctly, four departments must be allocated: the human resources, the marketing and sales, the financial and plus the role of the CEO. As CEO took over Yelizaveta, as a human resources manager Adamantia, as a marketing and sales manager Anastasia and last but not least, as a financial manager Irene. All together we came into conclusion for our vision, values, products and services, our target group and some extra benefits and services for the customers.
The world becomes digital with the pass of the time so, apart from the physical presence, we are planning our company to have a social one too. It will have its own e-shop and it already has social media such as email (thefoccompany@gmail.com), a facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pg/The-FOC-Company-885241115161840/), wordpress and an Instagram account.
For the conclusion, we would like to mention that it was an opportunity and a pleasure to cooperate and accomplish those projects. Some worked less, some more, but in the end, we all learned many things: How to manage our time, to communicate -listen and get the others point-, compromise and meet the deadlines. We gained knowledge and experience, thanks to our professor Miss Tsakarestou.
