OUR EVENT
Art is a very powerful element that one can find in many forms by exploring the Athenian cultural and street life. Street, classical, ancient & all the other forms of art come together and will be there for a 3-day festival to create an atmosphere that will fascinate every form of cultural enthusiast and why not even raise awareness to some that are not. We are basically talking about a 3 day exhibition in which we will gather many pieces of different forms of arts and exhibit them at Onassis Stegis. This will include for example paintings, photography, sculptures, digital art, music etc. All these will be combined creating a unique show that will ultimately show all the aspects of culture and therefore art that one can see in Athens. The guests will also able to enjoy interactive workshops and speeches that will be held during the exhibition giving the chance for further exploration of the many art forms that will be included. We decided that our festival will be called Ctrl Art Delete. This name implies that we reboot our traditional way of thinking and we upgrade it to one that fits all without limits and separations.
The reason why we are eager to do this event is simple. Athens is undeniably going through a difficult phase at the time. The financial crisis has in a lot of ways made people feel hopeless. That is where Ctrl Art Delete comes in. Athens is not a lost cause. Athens is a Phoenix. Myriads of interesting initiatives are taking place here. The art scene, hidden and underground is thriving. Through the new media, young creatives are promoting their work and expressing themselves intensely and loudly. Through our event we wish to show the hidden side of Athens, the creative, the hedonistic, the indulgent, the narcissistic art side of Athens that was born from the unique mixture of unprecedented freedom and a need to express. How the art scene has remained relevant and sustainable through the new media despite the circumstances. Because Athens may be decaying and chaotic but it is also vibrant and loud. We have thought that our event would be ideal to be held at Onassis Stegi. We are talking about the “talk of the town” when it comes to the art field in Athens. Onassis Stegi can exquisitely facilitate our event. As a venue it has various rooms that can host our speeches, parties, exhibitions etc. After careful consideration, we think that the event should take place during summer. June 16–18 would be ideal, as it leaves us with just enough time to organize and communicate the event. Furthermore FRI-SAT-SUN seems like an ideal period for this event to take place at. Also June when it comes to Events like this ones, would be a huge boost in ensuring maximum attendance.
