Fit Your Brain, the app

The alternative way to combine exercise with cultural exercise

In the context of a university project, we have created a team consisted of 5 members with the purpose of creating and promoting a new idea. We came up with the project “fit your brain” which is an app that combines body healthiness with the mind development. It is based on the greek quote “νους υγιής εν σώματι υγιεί”, which means a healthy mind in a healthy body. Our main goal is to encourage people to take control of their lives. We intend to achieve that by creating an application that combines two fundamental values, athleticism and culture.

By conecting two completely different until now activities, we bring together not only the advantages of each, but the characteristics of a bigger audience, too. A creative way of thinking and a healthy life emerge as two of the “musts” in our society and become a goal for many of us. So who wouldn’t be interested in a wholly new mixture of them that would reduce the disadvantages of each?

Do you have a passion or at least a liking in culture but you are looking for a more interactive approach far from the typical observation in a museum? Are you willing to start a physical exercising programm or even already exercising regularly, but you still need a more creative way of doing it avoiding the boring gyms routine and the usual running on youe neighbouhood’s square?

If that is the case, “Fit your Brain” app is the answer. As an app it will be probably more popular with youngsters, even though its user friendly environment could appeal to older ones, too. It is considered as a perfect solution for employed that have not much free time to waste and need an activity that will take their mind off their frustrating working life. Moreover, university students especially the ones who don’t come from Athens will find a usefull tool to find out hidden tresaurus of cultural monuments, buildings and sights while they are exercising. On the other hand, it is possible that you do not want to push yourself by running or cycling and just prefer to walk, as our research showed. So taking that into consideration we planned specific routes for this category of users, which aheads to a big museum, gallery or to a place with opportunities for you to rest. This final option applies mostly to tourists who went on holiday and want to relax and discover things about a city they do not know witout needing and paying for a guide being afraid that they will get lost.

Now, let’s talk a little more specifically about the way we use the app. The first thing you do, when you have already found out about it and what it helps in, is to download it for free from the appstore. Then, after you have created your personal acount that will “remember” your “favorite” routes and cultural points, you will be asked to fill a form allong with your necessities and preferances each time you open the app.

Especially, at first, you decide which one of the suggested ways of exercise you are into and if you want you can choose a particular location for your training. For example, do you want that to be close to your house, near the beach or in the center of Athens at Placa etc? Otherwise, the app may suggest a default location itself. In the final stage you can combine the type of exercise you had selected earlier with a personal cultural inerest of yours, which might be a certain architect, a specific time period of greek cultural creation.

Now then, based on all your preferances on the options above, the app provides you with a specific route in a google map, that you can dowload as a picture in case you can’t be internet connected all the time. The route embodies some spots with cultural interest, which are marked on the provided map. When you approach a spot, you are getting a notification from the app in order to check it out. These spots provide an excellent opportunity for taking pictures which can be later uploaded on a platform in the app. This will be very helpful for the next user who will be able to examine some previous user’s experiences, as long as for you as by using our hashtag #FityourBrain you are automatically participating to our campaign contest for the best pictures contending one of our photographic cameras prizes.

As you see, this whole thing is easy to experience and might give you the creativity you were looking for in your daily routine as long as to give you a solution for an interesting date! So just don’t waste your time and and give it a try. You don’t have anything to lose as it is free, gaining money from advertisements and some extras tools some users might need. Take control of your life and get out there learning and exercising in a brand new way! Fit your brain and make a change in the ordinary way people used to consider their hobbies..
