Getting to know McCANN…

Truly inspired by the Cannes Lions award-winning campaign, IKEA’S “ThisAbles”, our next task was to discover the advertising agency behind it. The objective was to get to know the agency and get familiar with their work in order to concretize our own agency’s operating mechanisms.

We found out that behind that moving campaign was the world-known advertising agency, McCANN. The agency’s history goes back in time, in 1912 when Erickson McCann founded it and till then it is operating as a creatively driven global marketing network.

We, then, carefully examined their website in order to gather useful information about the agency’s values, mission, creative tools and iconic campaigns.

What stood out to us was that McCANN has strong and established values. Their core values are transparency and depiction of truth in their campaigns. Through our research we discovered, that these values are reinforced by their distinct positioning “truth well told”, wherewith they want to state that truth has the power to move people, brands and markets.

Their key mission is to help brands play a meaningful role in people’s lives which is clearly highlighted by all their work.

Their core competence lies in strategic brand management linked with creativity and technological innovation. They, also, realize ambitious IT solutions that create new marketing opportunities.

It is necessary to mention, that the company has branches in several countries all around the world including Greece.

Their campaigns are distinguished for the fact that they touch on contemporary concerns and social issues, they intend to spread a positive message and raise awareness.

While browsing through McCANN’s website we were fascinated by all of their campaigns but we decided to focus on one that we considered the most intriguing, “Fearless Girl”.

Learning about McCANN truly inspired us and helped us to perfect our own strategy and even add new features to it. The “discovery” of McCANN left us nothing but motivated to continue our journey in the advertising world…
