Interview with graduates pt. 1

Within the course ‘PR the Power of Story Telling’ of ADandPRLab, we were called to address to graduates of this department, with an excellent professional route and experience.

I had the honor to take interview from two graduates, who not only have a complete and bright professional experience, but they also are exceptional people with amazing humor.

The first interviewee is Yota Mazioti, 32 years old. Yota has an excellent knowledge of the English and French language and at this moment she is part of the creative of McCann as senior copywriter. She was part of Sohosquare for three years, and also of Solid for six more years.

Unlike the majority, Yota always knew that she wanted to work in the field of advertising and by that will, she managed to be a part of Panteion’s University. She believes that advertising is a field that can be adapted to new facts and that whoever wants to stay in this field must be adapted to the upcoming developments.

In her opinion, will is the key to solve all the problems that may come to life and also this is the key for personal life. Moreover, she thinks that failures may come on daily basis in her work, however she always try to find out solutions without getting disappointed.

‘In advertising, what we do is ‘targeted art’, which means that something I created is not necessarily bad, it’s just not serve the goal at this particular moment’.

Team spirit in workplace is the one that will bring successful ideas and especially if none of its members is degraded. She believes that the career path aspiration of each creative, is to become creative director . However, this bell has not rang yet for Yota. Her main goal is to continue bring successful projects to her work and see them become reality. She thinks that this is a dream that never stops.

Regarding the skills that someone needs to have on this field, she believes that the continuous information and also the removal of blinkers are important criteria.

Furthermore, the most important thing is to know the audience he serves and also to be informed on daily basis. In few words, be able to find the insight through the daily routine.

To her mind, Yota thinks that there are further skills to improve, such as public speaking and acceptance of other opinions on a particular point, yet she thinks that she owns all the required skills that someone needs to have on advertising.

She is highly engaged with social media, as she believes that this is the best source of information, where new trends are created everyday.

Ambition and willing to work is the key for a successful cooperation with her, since she believes that only by these abilities an ideal result can be provited for the customer. Through studies the talent can be developed, which is also very important to her cooperates.

Her advice to those who want to follow the field of advertising is to become flexible. By entering on the professional starting there is the chance of learning more and more everyday. As time goes by, each one can find the field that wants to follow.

To Yota, ADandPRLab is a preview of market, the best place for someone who wants to be a part of advertising. Through this lab, is able to know this field and most of all is able to skip the part of internship.

I asked her to tell me a good and a bad memory of this lab. As a good memory, she remembers the day that Betty Tsakarestou brought the creators of the most much-discussed campaign, which they praised them as rock-stars. As a bad memory, she told me about the lack of infrastructure, which now is changed.

Finally, she believes that the tools she gained from this lab, such as strategic plan, creation of brief, media plan and market research helped her on her development.

I would like to thank Yota Mazioti for this great interview.
