Subject: Introduction to advertising and public relation


Our team consists of Yelizaveta Koliada, Anastasia Liakou, Amanda Linara and Iriana Nika and, after thorough discussion, we chose to present Starbucks coffee company for our task in Introduction to advertising and public relationships. Starbucks is a very well-known company with many shops all around the world and, through our project, we had the chance to become familiar with the history, the inventors and how it became so popular. We even learnt some trivia we didn’t know.

At the beginning, we gathered to a Starbucks coffee shop (where else?) in order to discuss the issue and get ready for the presentation that was coming in a few days. More specifically, Anastasia and Yelizaveta prepared the Power Point. Before the presentation, we all discussed the part each one would present. Our presentation closed with a nice video that we found on Instagram and fully described the history of Starbucks.

The second part of our task concerned interviews. We decided to interviewa Starbucks’ employee as well as a Starbucks’ customer, in order to get both some inside information and some outside impressions. After a few efforts, Anastasia, finally, managed to contact an employee of the Marketing branch of Starbucks who, after 3 weeks of repetitive phone calls and emails, accepted to give us an interview. Anastasia prepared the questions for the employee’s interview while Amanda and Iriana prepared the questions for the customer’s interview. The employee’s interview was carried out by Amanda and the customer’s interview by Iriana.

To carry out our interviews, Amanda finally talked with three employees of Starbucks who helped giving us very useful information as far as company’s vision, sponsored organisms and training staff is concerned ..\Desktop\Starbucks employee’s interview.docx, whereas Iriana talked with Dimitra who showed us how Starbucks looks like from the eyes of a young student ..\Desktop\Dimitra’s interview.docx. The three employees were Magda, Elias and Vasiliki. Elias has been there for his practice for 2 months and finally he got work there and he deals with social, web sites, digital and advertising. Vasiliki works for Starbucks from 2005 and she is working on the field of communication and marketing whereas Magda related with public relationships of Starbucks. The last protagonist is Dimitra a second-year student of Panteion University in department of Communication media and culture.


Then, Iriana took on the responsibility to do the transcription write down both interviews from employees and Dimitra with each detail. There are the links above of each interview.

It was a really nice experience because firstly we had the opportunity to learn in depth details about this well-known coffee company and things that even we imagined, secondly to carry out an interview from people that we did not know and understand all the process! The cooperation was excellent, there was willingness from all of us and each of us helped the other! It was a really unforgettable experience!
