M.AD.IDEAS: All about branding

Have you ever considered what is a brand and how it is built? Reading the article titled “What is a brand?” by Interbrand, many things are understood about branding. First of all, The term brand began to become more popular and widely used in the 20th century and has received countless definitions from time to time.

The goal of a company is to create a successful brand. This means that it is something that is created over time and approaches the audience. In the age of the internet, a brand has the potential to become popular, to be heard, to evolve but also to disappear quickly. Here comes the keyword “differentiator”. This means being good at getting found. Some variations help a brand be recognized and give people the chance to talk about it. It is crucial, through branding become obvious the experiences and what the brand represents. Τherefore, consistency is equally important. Whatever channel is used, there must be the same consistency as the design consistency (logo, colors, fonts, etc.). Of course, a successful brand has to live up to expectations. Customers want to know what to expect, what to look for, and how to single out a brand.

Here comes the term “value proposition”. A brand to become successful should describe from the very beginning what it does, what methods follow to do it, and what makes this brand different from others. To achieve this, it must create a “buyer persona”. Εach brand must penetrate deeply into the perceptions and preferences of its target group. Κnowing the needs and goals of the customers a brand promotes products that meet this target persona. That’s why a brand needs to have a dominant social presence, an aesthetic website, and a brand voice. Τherefore a successful brand can only be created with great effort and full understanding of what it stands for and to whom.
