Motherland
In the framework of “Apps, Games & Coding Lab” we were asked to create an innovative start-up company,so our team M²ED²iA ,after brainstorming came up with the idea of “Motherland”.
Are you a Greek student abroad and you’ve missed your mother’s love, care and homemade meals? Or are you perhaps one of many that seek Hellenic products in the European country that is hosting you for your studies? Don’t worry, because ‘’Motherland’’ is here for you. Our company can become like your second mom, for as long as you are away from home! Through our webpage, you’ll have the ability to choose Hellenic products that you miss, so that you can taste Greece on your plate once again. We’ll handle the rest. Not only you, but also your family , can order and send you your most beloved ingredients so that you can prepare once again your favorite meal. If you need some extra inspiration in the kitchen we provide you a number of videos on how to best utilize the products that you’ve ordered. You’ll find the details about our services and how those works below. Our goal is for your every meal to taste like home!
Where are the products from?
Our main purpose is to provide you with products of great quality. Therefore we import our products from small production units all around Greece! This results in our products being of unadulterated ingredients and of much better quality since they are not produced massively, but in smaller and more controllable quantities. The main factor that led us to develop this idea is our desire to provide products made out of love, becoming a strong reminder of your country and your mother’s cooking.
Delivery at your doorstep!
“Motherland” cooperates with delivery services and guarantees that your orders will arrive at your door in top condition! If for any reason, your order is either wrong or damaged in any way ,it will be our job to replace it and the cost will be ours. We offer delivery at your home or any other address you provide, ensuring that your products arrive securely and in top condition. Orders will be shipped out twice a month, once on the 15th and then on the 30th (except February orders: those will be sent on the 15th and then on March 1st /2nd). In order to prepare every order according to our standards it takes up to 3 days. So, last order placement in order to receive on the 15th of each month should be on the 12th of that month and the 27th for the second shipment. Shipping cost is 6€ and orders over 50€ will be free of shipping charges. After shipping, the order will be delivered within 2–4 days depending on your location.
Orders and Payment
Our platform addresses students that study in a foreign EU country as much as their parents that intend to send traditional products from our country to them. Both can visit our website and select whatever they want to order, from a big variety of products. We register the selected products, pack and ship them in few days at their desired destination abroad. Regarding the payment, ‘’Motherland’’gives parents the choice to pay for the products otherwise the students themselves will pay upon delivery, with cash ,credit or prepaid card.
What kind of products can you get!
Our products will be mostly pre-packed foods that can last for a long time without going bad easily. Products in liquid form like wine, olive oil, raki, feta cheese in brine will be transported in cans. Others like honey, desserts, jams, mastic, olive paste and caper will be packed in jars of different sizes according to the client’s preferences. While foods as oregano, crispbread, spices, noodles, trahana, sundried figs will be placed in boxes for their safe transportation.
Recipes and more
Through our platform, you will also have the opportunity to try out your abilities at cooking, as you can watch videos with traditional, step-by-step recipes with our products, which can be easily prepared. This way, you will have a fully Greek meal at your table and it will feel like you are back home again. Furthermore, there are tags on the products inside the package, in order to be sure about what you ordered. These tags inform you about the origin of each and every one of them and last but not least, the way they are collected and prepared by the agricultural organisation that dealt with the product you ordered.
It’s all about socializing!
The way we prefer to be widely known would be through constant advertising on Social Media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Skype and on radio, so that our advertisment could be available to people without a social media account. And last but not least, a part of our agreement on cooperation with small production units will be our advertisment through them.
