Musicbook
Coming up with an idea for our project for the “Digital Creativity: Apps, Games, Coding” class was tougher than we expected. Our brand new idea “Musicbook” came up through deep consideration, and genuine passion for music.
Musicbook is an application that finds and suggests the ideal music venues across Greece (Clubs, Concerts, etc.) , according to users’ musical preferences. Furthermore, it provides the opportunity to artists, musical venues and studios to communicate with each other for future collaborations. More specifically, Musicbook is divided by three categories: Users, Artists, and Music Venues/Studios.
Users: By downloading the Musicbook app, the user creates his profile and selects his musical preferences (Rock, Techno, etc.), his favourite artists, and the places he usually hangs out. Musicbook suggests places where the user can listen to his favourite style of music, near his preferred places, as well as artists that are interesting according to his preferences. The user has the ability to rank artists, as well as music venues.
At the same time, buying a ticket from the Musicbook application provides a 10% discount on the ticket market for concerts. The user shows the electronic receipt / barcode (boarding pass) in the concert venue, and along with the discount, the ticket also offers a seat selection. However, there is also the option of buying a premium account, where with 5 euros per month, user has a 25% discount in selected concerts.
Artists: Artists (solo artists, bands, DJs etc.) who want to promote their music, create an account with which they will get in touch with the audience and the music venues they prefer. With Musicbook, artists post their personal information (info about them, genre, contact info etc), their schedule, and they upload their music in order to become widely known to audiences and musical venues, to communicate with them for future collaboration. In addition, they can see suggested studios to pick for their rehearsals and recordings.
Music Venues/Recording Studios: Music Venues create an account to find ideal up-and-coming artists that will fit with the style of music they are looking for. They also have the option to contact their favourite artists for bookings. Studios, respectively, can look for artists with whom they want to collaborate.
