Our “Sweet” Journey
In the context of the final paper in the subject “Digital Creativity: Apps, Games, Coding”, our team (Leading SCHED_ Sofia Pavlidou, Christina Baltouna, vlahou eleni, Ελένη Πούλιου, Dimitris Troupos) designed and created the website (sweetizen.tilda.ws) along with the respective application.
Sweetizen’s objective is to promote amateur bakers’ creativity that has the potential to satisfy what the most demanding client ever dreamed. “You are a Sweetizen if you enjoy baking pastries on your special moments. You are a Sweetizen if you enjoy accompanying your special moments with pastries”.
In order to achieve that, website’s creation was based on Tilda platform, while for the application development proto.io software was used.
Website
Sweetizen website works as an information and communication hub, both for the application users and potential partners.
In the main menu the selection ‘’Become a Sweetizen partner’’, addressed solely to potential partners, dominates by offering the ability to upload their personal information through the special communication form.
Moreover, main menu has the following options:
· About us
· Info
· Location we serve
· FAQ
· Contact us
The option “About us” offers general information related to the project (Concept, objective, to whom it may concern).
“Ιnfo” contains more detailed information about the steps that someone has to follow in order to become a site member and guide lines related to order delivery and payment options.
Furthermore, in the option “Locations we serve” user obtains a solid picture of the area our services cover.
“FAQ” provides popular questions answered to Sweetizen partners and ordinary application users as well.
In addition, through “Contact us”, website visitors can be informed about terms and policies of application usage and also the way to communicate with us by using social media accounts (Facebook & Instagram).
Application
As previously described for the application development proto.io software was used. Its dashboard offered a variety of tools and potential to the user.
As far as interface issues concern, Sweetizen application is at a high degree compliant with heuristics described below.
Heuristics Evaluation
· Visibility of system status
The application itself updates user on system status providing the appropriate feedback in a timely manner. In the following picture we see that results are based on the area that user defined.
· Match between system and the real world
The application uses common, everyday words and phrases like “Ηi Natalie, Let’s bake your dreams!” as an example.
· User control and freedom
User can navigate the application at any moment through the respective navigation buttons.
· Consistency and standards
All interface pages follow the same graphic style both in color/font type and in symbol level as well.
· Error prevention
The application is designed in a way that user error prevention is assured to the maximum degree.
· Flexibility and efficiency of use
Application design allows users to complete their task in an easy and quick manner.
· Aesthetic and minimalist design
Interface pages do not contain needless information but the necessary ones.
· Help users recognize, diagnose, and recover from errors
Typical indications like “Ι forgot my password”, aim to correct any error arises.
· Help and documentation
The application provides user with clear and concise information through “FAQ” and “Contact us” options.
In the following video a hypothetical scenario of application usage is presented.
We started from scratch, having an idea that does not exist in the Greek market and we tried to form it by using tools not known to us at that time.
An important contribution to the project’s accomplishment was the number of sessions performed during the semester by Ms Maggie Kontou and the UX Prodigy team.
Any challenge aroused during the process boosted our team’s effort to success.
Moreover, working on the particular project, it gave us the opportunity to familiarize with software like Τilda, proto.io, photoshop and other useful for our future carrier tools.
Now that our sweet journey came to an end, we are confident that, if you know ‘’why’’ you want to create something, having the appropriate guidance and being persistent, you can make your wildest dreams come true.
Special thanks to Betty Tsakarestou and Dr. Stavros Kaperonis!
