The idea behind Sweetizen

As part of this semester’s ADandPRlab’s course regarding Digital Creativity, we were asked to develop an idea that is currently missing from the Greek market and bring it to life. In other words the requisites of this course were to form an idea which we would turn into a website and an application. So during our team’s brainstorming we all tried to keep in mind a few things.

First and foremost, we needed to come up with an idea that would help during these hard times. The persistent Greek economic crisis is still affecting each and everyone of us. The austerity, the outrageous unemployment rates and the general insecurity have marked this past decade. The struggling Greek has experienced losing their job, selling their car or their house, looking hopelessly for opportunities and considering the idea of leaving the country as the most viable option. We all have seen doors shut to our faces, closed businesses or people losing everything.

Secondly, we needed an idea that is missing from the Greek market. So we were looking for something that you cannot find currently here but is at the same time trending. Our main purpose was to provide our clients with something they will find useful and amusing at the same time. To do that we had to keep an eye on what is popular nowadays in order to achieve the engagement. Fun is the key but also we had to keep it simple and efficient.

In spite of the existing crisis though, Greeks have been fighting their way back to normality. Without losing their hope they have been trying to come up with ways to survive,to make money and last but not least build a career. It takes patience, persistence and a lot of creativity to figure out a way. When there is a will there is a way after all and these dreamers have been living proof by not giving up.

This knowledge has been the inspiration behind Sweetizen. As we all know these days people have been trying to enhance their income by baking imaginative pastry and trying to sell them through an IG page. Of course, increasing their clients is hard and promoting their work would be expensive. On the other hand these days people have been trying to figure out less expensive ways for their special moments.

Sweetizen to the rescue! We came up with an idea to bring these two sides together. Believing it is people who make their moments we created a space where some people’s inspiration, creativity and hobbies interact with others’ wishes and imagination. Our aim is nothing more than a sweet… sentiment of satisfaction coming from the joy of creativity and sweet dreams coming to life. Sweetizens united in order to make our moments unforgettable.

The name Sweetizen derives from the word citizen. By this we are talking about all these fellow creative souls wanting to share their art with those who need to make their special moments even more special. The team behind Sweetizen basically takes care of the “boring” stuff. Promotion, communication and distribution are being taken care of so the Sweetizen partner only has to set their imagination free. By this many amateur bakers will be tempted to try Sweetizen out. One could say we gathered all these different IG profiles and brought them on the same platform with benefits for everybody involved. Our partners boost their income and our clients find what they are looking for at a lower price compared to other options.

To sum up, Sweetizen’s basic idea and purpose is clear and highly efficient. During a period when everyone struggles to survive, having the option to add up to your income by being creative from the comfort of your own kitchen is invaluable. At the same time more and more people intend to purchase original yet at a sensible price cakes for different occassions. There are many who would say that sweetizen looks “cool”, “fun” or “cute”. Surely all these words describe it but do not capture the essence of it. Sweetizen is all about feelings. Feelings coming from giving, from surprising and from creating. Most importantly though feelings coming from helping someone build, or in this case bake, their dreams.
