The Meme Factory: REVISED

Our Story
A few years ago, there was a young boy who loved memes. Everybody made fun of him because he was so enthusiastic about showing everyone his love for them. They did not hang out with him, they called him “weird” and an “internet nerd” and they were saying that he was missing the true meaning of life. He used to be sad about it and sing “IT’S JUST MEME, MYSELF AND I” to comfort himself.

Someday, at school two students heard him singing his song and fascinated that they might have found a person that shared their love for memes they asked him to join them. The two girls explained to him that there were plenty of other people on the internet that love memes too and that he should not be ashamed or feel left out because of what he likes.

As the time passed, they started hanging out more and they became friends. Then a thought crossed their mind. “Why don’t we design an app that would help people that love memes like us communicate better?”

AND SO THE MEME FACTORY WAS BORN.

WE are these three nerds and we are here to talk to you about our app that you will definitely love.

The meme factory is the TOP meme app where you can discover new memes anyday anytime, find memes easily through categories, search memes of your desire by keywords or tags and see top trending viral content. You can create your own memes too and make your custom collections of memes so that you can find them fast and keep them organised. Also, don’t forget that you can give the memes you like a cookie, share them with your friends or save memes to watch them later. Memes with your cookies are shown to your collections page and of course you can choose whether or not you want your collections to be public or private. If you find memes from a category you don’t want to see you can press the not interested button and the app won’t show you any related memes and if you find memes you think are inappropriate you can report them and our team after thorough research will work its best to keep you protected from bad content. The best part is that if you don’t have enough space on your phone you don’t even have to download the app as you can use it instantly through Facebook messenger. AND THERE YOU HAVE IT.

What we learned & achieved
Working on ‘’The Meme Factory ‘’ project has really been a journey. We learned how a simple idea can be turned into reality. How each and every one of us, is capable of thinking creatively. Innovation is only one step away, especially given that through the internet one has all the needed tools.

During the development of our start-up and while searching for what is missing for us millennials. It was quickly made clear that communicating is done in new terms; that Meme Culture is not a fake phenomenon and usage of apps for communicating has become an undeniable part of our lives. So, we searched for inspiration within ourselves. Personal experiences. The answer was; when you are looking for a specific meme, you can never find it in the chaos of the internet and during chat conversations memes always get the best responses.

Given that, we started making the first plans for The Meme Factory. Through trial and error, interviews, anonymous statistic feedback and business methods like Speed Dating and World Café, we achieved progress. We created a prototype. Firstly, our website, a place where all about our start-up is explained in detail. Where you can search for what we are offering, news and updates. Then, came the visual representation of our app. The design of our homepage, Meme of the Day, Your cookies, the page where one creates his/hers personal memes and lastly the Messenger plug in.

We created each feature, taking into consideration every information we gained. So, the Meme of the Day, became a priority, as everyone was really excited. The same goes for the option of creating your own memes. The ‘Your Cookies’ profile will be either public or private, depending on the users’ personal preference. Our homepage, will of course be divided into categories (trending-hashtags- categories) and the Messenger plug-in will be one of the first additions released. When striving for a perfected form of your vision, feedback is the most important factor.

Our future plans
And as creativity never ends, our updates keep coming too. After taking into consideration the responses and the suggestions of our potential customers, we decided to “equip” our application with brand-new features. By participating in the “World-Café” format, we understood what we have to do in order to keep our users’ interest in “The Meme Factory” high. After this kind of debate, we decided to add a new feature to the section of “Meme Of The Day”. Specifically, the users will be able to click on “The Meme Of Day” and learn more things about a crucial event that took place at exactly the same day years ago. As a result, our updated application will provide to users a historical background.

Moreover, after the feedback sessions on “AD Discovery & Creativity Lab”, we thought that we could improve our creating method by adding new & funny tools, with which our customers will be able to add stickers or a short text to their “memes creation”. Furthermore, it should be mentioned that our “Messenger” plug-in is in progress and we try really hard to achieve this collaboration, because it is a very popular means of communication.

One more improvement, that is coming soon, is the upgrade of the software program. With the help of an expert in computer technology, we try to design a user-friendly environment, which will be easy and appealing to new users.

Communication strategy
Effective communication is undoubtedly a vital tool for any business owner and any business market. In this step, “The Meme Factory” needs some help in order to be known in the business and application world. But how can this be done successfully?

The answer we gave to this Problem is promotion via already well-known social media, such as Facebook, which gathers million subscribers. In fact, we created the Facebook and Instagram Page of “The Meme Factory” and the first reaction was something above positive. The first likes came within minutes and we are really pleasant with that. Furthermore, our followers on the Instagram page have already participated in many polls we have organized. Plus, the followers have sent to us (inbox) messages congratulating us for the good work. We, also, decided to promote some of our initial posts in order to gather more users and teens, who are our target-group, learn more things about our application.

Another good idea is to organize a “Meme-Competition”, which will be called “Comemetition”. The main idea is: Users will create their own meme, post it on their personal profiles with the appropriate hashtag: “#MemeFactoryGR” and then challenge one of their friends to create a better meme. Their friend will challenge another person, the person another peer and this process will act as a chain. As a result, many teens will get informed and search for our application. This group of people could possibly be our future users. Our goal is to make this project, and therefore our application, go viral.

Moreover, we are in the making of a tutorial video, which will describe to audience how this application works and what the features of it are. This video will be created with the “Premiere Software” and get uploaded on our YouTube Channel -which is coming soon- with the suitable tags.

Last but not least, we have created a website, which is a perfect “mirror” of our application. By clicking to this site, audience will not only get familiarized with the services of our project, but also communicate with us!

What we need from now on
From this point on, our app is in the making. Partnerships with app development specialists are been considered, as to create the best possible results. An app close to our designs, that is also easy to use. That doesn’t take up much space in ones’ phone, so that anyone can download it.
