The Story of Giant Heart

Is there a basketball dream for you, no matter sex, age, disabled or not?

Is there a well equipped basketball court at your community?

Do you want to have close chat with your favorite player, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo?

In our opinion, Giant Heart means a strong heart, never give up easily when faced with difficulties, as well as responsibility and honor.

In fact, when we first heard “giant heart”, we thought of a one-armed basketball teenager in China.

In China, around 2 years ago, a video of a one-armed boy playing a one-on-one basketball match with his opponent has become popular on the Internet. The skilled technology not only amazed the audience, but also shocked the netizens.

In the video clip, the young teen was playing with superb basketball skills, doing crossover and behind-the-back dribbling moves, which drew cheers and acclamation from the audience. “I didn’t even realize he had only one arm when I first watched the video,” said the netizen.

In fact, the 13-year-old basketball boy named Zhang Jiacheng is from a village in Guangdong Province, China. At the age of 5, he lost his right arm in an accident.

But losing his right arm didn’t stop him from chasing his basketball dream. Whether it is at home or on the playground, as long as it is where you can play, you can see him practicing.

Zhang Jiacheng said that he has been practicing basketball since 2018. At first, he couldn’t even dribble or shoot. Now that he touches the basketball, he doesn’t want to put it down, and he feels excited.

“Keep up or give up” is his motto.

Even playing against players far taller and stronger than him, he still plays with firm determination and shoots the ball while being defended.

Many video clips of him practicing at home or on the basketball court circulate on the social media.

Zhang Jiacheng’s smooth and proficient skills, optimistic attitude and great enthusiasm for basketball have also attracted the attention of many professional basketball players.

On June 1, 2020, Yi Jianlian reposted this video of Zhang Jiacheng, a one-armed boy playing basketball, moved by his firm will at a young age.

“The heart always remains as the strongest part of the body.”

National Basketball Association (NBA) star Stephen Curry said that he wants to locate the one-armed Chinese boy whose dazzling basketball skills have gone viral online.

“Who is this kid? Help me find him! Keep doing you and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t,” the Golden State Warriors player wrote to his 4.5 million followers on China’s Twitter-like Weibo.

As Curry said, he was an inspirational force, he didn’t accept ‘no’ as an answer, he found a way to get over it, got on the basketball court, and showed everyone what basketball meant to him.

He encouraged Zhang Jiacheng to continue to spread his positive energy. Continue to prove to those who say you can’t do it. “

So, this is what we think of as “Giant Heart”.
