Every company, organization or group has a culture or philosophy that defines the personality, the values, practices, and beliefs shared by all the members. There are main points that make the essence of the group, the DNA that makes it unique. This DNA is formed around the shared beliefs of what is important, and the values that determine what the organization stands for.

So, what is the Adalaber philosophy? In our short time in the program, we will give you 3 points that we believe are key to understanding the identity of Adalab.

Work-hard

Work-hard culture means different things. On the one hand, it means action is encouraged, it requires you to give 100% because there is a high workload. Because of this, everyone maintains high levels of energy and stays upbeat. On the other hand, it is a team-based culture. It becomes necessary to create a collaborative environment that offers you constant feedback. One person cannot make the group, so everything is a team effort and everyone relies on eachother, so together we can achieve our goals. The popular belief that women are competitive with each other disappears the first day, and we start to work like the strongest team because of our sorority and mutual support.

Motivation

If there is one thing that is breathed every day in this environment, it is motivation…the desire and the excitement of everything that we are learning. In the daily rhythm of the group, we can see that we are all struggling to achieve the same goal, and despite the difficulties or the frenetic pace of the program, the motivation makes us reach our goal in the end. This makes the environment very pleasant and proactive, so we are more productive and efficient. One of the reasons why this occurs is the commitment that each of us has to the program, we are all highly involved.

Feminism

Something that cannot go unmentioned is the deep feminism of Adalab. An organization built by women for women is just the tip of the iceberg. As students, we can see the special effort by Adalab of showing us that women are real in IT, that we are as capable as anyone to be a good programmer, and even more important, if that is what we want. Also, they are showing us that feminism is necessary in all layers of our society. And for that, the fact that all the students are women is not only a way to empowered women in programming (because men don’t need it), but also something more remarkable: they are giving us a safe space for women in a male-dominated world.

Therefore, just taking a quick look at this article, there are some things that we can deduce. Adalab is creating a valuable opportunity for women. It is as clear as that. They are building us up to be more empowered woman, giving us security and very important tools for having a professional perspective of ourselves. Adalab is encouraging us to become the best version of ourselves as professionals with hard and soft skills, giving all the students the push to keep us motivated and focused on hard work and collaboration.
