Tech world: Is it really necessary to listen to my favorite songs while being on the toilette?

Even your mother knows, that the tech world is in a continuous, evolving, and expanding stage. But the questionable fact is, until what point is it really improving our lives: do we really need every single gadget that the technological companies are launching to the market?

Without the aim of making you think about the consumer society, the Western values and the modern life, we would like to mention below a list of new tools or toys of questionable utility.

1. Cyclix

Ronan Byrne, a 21 year old Irish student of Electronic Engineering, created a system through a static bicycle connected with Netflix that interrupts the transmission if you stop pedaling or you lower the speed a lot. How does it work?

  • Set the speed and time the exercise will last
  • Choose the content of Netflix
  • Start cycling and keep up the speed

2. F. Lashes

False eyelashes with LED lights. This “gadget” is made up of LED diodes available in different colors that work with a small battery that lasts up to four hours. The controller of the F. Lashes is placed on the nape of the neck, which is held with hairpins while some cables connect each lash, being practically invisible unless you get too close.

3. i.Con Smart Condom Ring

The British sexual accessories company , British Condoms”, has launched the first intelligent device that collects information during sexual encounters. It is a reusable ring that is placed on the base of the condom and that, through a technology that combines sensors and a nanochip, can measure and record various variables such as: calories burned, speed of movements, number of penetrations, frequency of the sessions, duration, practice of different positions, temperature of the skin, and more. The device has a micro USB port to charge its battery, which supports between six and eight hours of activity. In addition, its water-resistant design, comfortable and light, allows the user not to perceive his presence. At the end, the collected information can be downloaded through an application connected via Bluetooth. Once done, i.Con automatically deletes its memory to be ready for the next meeting.

4. Kohler numi

Kohler numi is a multi-functional toilet valued around $6000. Compatibility with Amazon’s Alexa technology means you can ask your virtual assistant to do things like lift the toilet seat, prepare the bidet, or even play songs from your stored playlists (yes, this toilet has speakers). Front sensors react to your movement when you enter the room for hands-free opening and closing of the cover. Motion at the floor level engages sensors to raise and lower seat. It has other awesome functionality like, integrated air dryer, deodorizer, heated seat, foot warmer, illuminated panels, touch-screen remote, charges and stores the remote and all you need to your comfort.

5. Modobag

Modobag is a suitcase equipped with an electric motor that allows us to use it as a means of transport at the airport and even on the streets. Why walk through an airport when you can ride? Modobag is a hybrid luggage — it is a part carry-on suitcase and a part motorized vehicle. It has a 200-watt electric motor at full throttle and is capable of whizzing 6 miles through the airport terminal at speeds up to 8 mph on a single charge. It also has a high-performance, sealed bearing steering column, touch control dashboard and dual USB charging ports for power on the go. 7. Ku: Panasonic’s self-driving fridge

It’s a voice-activated fridge which uses LIDAR and depth sensors to navigate a home when called. The device learns the layout of the kitchen, but can also respond to unexpected items in its path. It responds to voice commands and moves around the house to deliver your food and beverages. The fridge is linked to a database that provides details about every bottle of in your Panasonic fridge and it can then offer up suggestions about the best food to go with your beverage.

These are some of the most bizarre gadgets that you could find in the current tech market. It isn’t our intention to judge your shopping habits, but we would like to make you think about if it makes sense for these products to exist.
