Diabetic Cyborg Life 2/01: It’s Only February
Maybe it’s just our house, but I swear the month of January 2020 was a full 12 months long. This year being an election year, impeachment pending and the whole feeling of something big is coming is palpable to me. Those feelings might be all because social media and the 24/7 news cycle, yet things are the most unsettled nationally since the 60’s and Nixon.
January saw chaos in government, the deaths of Kobe Bryant, daughter Gianna and 7 others and, personally, a full month of knowing a new love interest. The impact of the death of Kobe is one that seems to resonate as few deaths could. It might just be because I am an NBA/sports centric person though.
The daily chats with the new love interest are a learning process of getting to know someone with English as their second language and thousands of miles away. Add the distinct cultural differences between America and Bangladesh. My being a pop culture nerd leaves most of what I know to talk about unsaid as we chat.
Love is there but when or if we will ever be together is certainly an uncertainty.
