I heard one pundit on MSNBC mention the current state of what the Republican Party wants. It is what the GOP and the Whip party that spawn it always wanted, money and power. The sole reason they allowed Trump to be their candidate in 2016 and 2020.
He was famous, a celebrity with a preexisting fanbase that would follow him into the gates of hell if needed. That 30% of followers his polls always showed are the group of followers that’s his since he descended into the lobby of Trump Tower in 2015. We all hoped that time, failure and sanity would decrease that 30% to at least 25%, yet there they are still.
Failed coup, failed elections, yes, I still count his loss in 2016. Yet, that established fanbase sticks to him like the little Remora that clings to a host animal such as a whale, turtle, shark or ray for feeding. Some of the mindless zombies that follow the GOP seem to replace the few that Trump’s lost.
