Diabetic Cyborg Life 3/05: The Mental Predisposition to Live by
A recent response made me realize a simple thing I often take for granted now. It can be a powerful tool though for us to keep our sanity in an often-chaotic world. Some call it attitude, but mental predisposition or liability or tendency to do some things is what gets me through everyday now.
“In psychology, an attitude refers to a set of emotions, beliefs, and behaviors toward a particular object, person, thing, or event. Attitudes are often the result of experience or upbringing, and they can have a powerful influence over behavior.”
The use of my predisposition toward optimism is what keeps me alive and able to do the often-simplest things while not being deeply depressed. This is exactly why I encourage every reader of this blog to at least try to be optimistic at all times. There are times when I curse and lament what I face, yet I remember that at least I am still here to feel whatever I am facing.
The reminders that having the power to even feel those emotions are a welcome thing in my life, and having those sensations is just part of life. Knowing these thoughts and feeling those sensations are just what we live for. Stop overthinking and overreacting to life and live!
