Diabetic Cyborg Life 5/8: A Shout Out to Jamie
During this stay-at-home time, my profession photographer/artist older brother, Jamie, has done many things for my septuagenarians and me. He’s picked up meds, got groceries and scarified potential exposure to COVID many times. Repetitively, I hear many thanks go to those that expose themselves, so this is my version of that for him.
Three of the four members of our house being at risk to COVID exposure makes it hard. Being in Texas where science be damned for the economy’s sake as Dan Patrick put it:
“Those of us who are 70 plus, we’ll take care of ourselves. But don’t sacrifice the country.”
Sorry Dan, my 70 plus parents Jamie and I feel otherwise about sacrifice to the false idol that embodies the economy. Thankfully, many businesses we frequent that are actually small businesses that may not make it past the COVID era chose to stay shutdown for humanity’s sake.
Nice to see that the small businesses we regularly use share our own ethics and prefer to see science as the unit of measure to reopen. Opinions on the GOP’s doomsday day cultish feel during these days and the Trump era as a whole are a subject, I will leave there.
