Diabetic Cyborg Life 7/18: Faith/Optimism
I rarely try to raise the subject of religion as I am agnostic or even an atheist before a recent conversion to Muslim. This was inspired by the love I found 8,5XX miles away where she said I must be one to ever have a chance of marrying her. Honestly, it was not really a hard decision as I never believed one way or the other before.
Yes, I attended Sunday School and remember most of the stories from the Bible but have not thought about them since. I figured it was it was worth a shot and listened to the Quran, Hadith and Sira as are their whole trinity of text. In defiance of the common Christian assumption, truth is the text portions of comparing the Quran and Holy Bible are not that different.
It is the other 2 the Hadith and Sira that tell of the prophet Mohammed’s life and how to be a good Muslim. No, radical Islam is not the norm as most racist idiots might want you to believe. Yes, Mohammed did turn to a holy Jihad at the end of his life, but it was not killing and bombing to get the message across.
Being a kind loving almost monk like pacifist is possible, but not common like people of any Christian or Jewish beliefs. Peace be with us all and just live, love and being a good person is all I believe and have ever believed. I believe much the same as I did before, just have a deity, Allah, to honor and hold on to.
