Democracy’s de jure status in the world as of 2022; only Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE, Qatar, Brunei, Afghanistan, and the Vatican do not claim to be a democracy. Source Wikipedia

According to Wikipedia By definition democracy is, “Democracy (from Ancient Greek: δημοκρατία, romanized: dēmokratía, dēmos ‘people’ and kratos ‘rule’) is a form of government in which the people have the authority to deliberate and decide legislation (“direct democracy”), or to choose governing officials to do so (“representative democracy”).”

Our choice in representative democracy is embodied in the House of Representatives and Senate as the two bodies of a bicameral system. The elected branch of our system in the USA is usually faster than the parliamentary systems of the UK and Canada. I learned in college that legislation will move at a glacial pace.

Bill moves through the US in around a few months, depending on various factors of writing and drafting.

Whereas in the UK or Canada it can take years, plural. Yes, government of all forms can be slow, but that is the beauty of the processes.

Totalitarian and monarchs might be faster, but we are participants in the process versus subjects was the whole purpose of the American Revolution in 1776.

Why choose to roll back over two-hundred years of history?
