Adarga is thrilled to announce that we have kicked off our Data Science Summer Internship Programme 2021.

Early this year, we opened our internship application process and attended virtual careers fairs at the University of Exeter and the University of Edinburgh, building on our excellent existing academic partnerships, to speak to students across the UK. Despite the challenges of the past year, our outreach led to over 200 applications, and an overwhelming response from the emerging talent coming out of academia today.

For the next 12 weeks, four interns will be joining our world-class product teams to focus on key parts of Adarga’s state-of-the-art Knowledge Platform — Events, Search, and Insights. With an exceptional level of Data Science knowledge, they will have a brilliant opportunity to work on real projects and features on our artificial intelligence (AI) software platform that combines natural language processing, machine learning and knowledge graph technology, to help organisations in defence and national security to effectively exploit the vast amount of complex data at their disposal. Our whole team is committed to making sure that each of our interns has a successful experience, they have all been appointed a mentor on their team to guide and shape their time at Adarga. This year it will be run as a hybrid programme with access to our offices in both London and Bristol, while also allowing time to work from home (or wherever they work best).

We are pleased to welcome Daniel, Divy, Sandeep, and Benjamin to the team.

Daniel Biro, who has completed his MInf (Master of Informatics) at the University of Edinburgh, is returning to Adarga for a second term and has taken on a Lead Intern role. As a Lead Intern, he will manage the new recruits and act as an experienced point of contact for the team. In 2020, Daniel worked on a Question and Answering project, you can read more about his team’s project here. His team’s work inspired a feature, now on our product roadmap, which he will be able to re-visit and see how it’s developed a year on.

The new intern group features under- and post-graduates from the University of Edinburgh, Durham University, and the University of Cambridge. By the end of the 12-week programme, each of our interns will present their project results to the whole company at our weekly all-hands meeting.

If you’re interested in the 2022 Internship Programme, we are always looking to further expand our university contacts across the UK and we hope to meet (virtually or in-person) at a careers fair near you.

Keep an eye on our careers page and our LinkedIn for the opening of new roles.
