While this was originally written by Tumblr user tate-iyohiwin a month ago, the standoff at Standing Rock has yet to end. While there has been some positive developments — construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline has halted for now — it’s unclear whether they will resume work once the media has moved on.

And the violence continues — peaceful protesters continue to be attacked by pepper spray, rubber bullets and the militarized police even hit a journalist yesterday.
