Soon after the Beta release we are proud to announce Indonesia to be the first Asian region where AdHive Platform is launched.

Why have we chosen it?

  • Huge consumer market
The country’s population is 262m people, more than half of them are active internet users, 92m are active mobile & social media users (which is more than the whole population of Germany, France or Britain). Indonesian advertising market is one of the largest in Asia and the biggest in Southeast Asia with overall spendings estimated at 4.5 billion dollars, including 1.3 billion spent on digital advertising.
  • Rapidly growing
The digital advertising market in Indonesia is expected to grow annually by 10–30% till 2020. The main reason for it is a persistent growth of mobile data usage. Cisco forecasted that mobile data traffic in Indonesia will grow by some 8 times from 2016 to 2021 at a CAGR of 53%.
  • High level of social media activity
92% of smartphone users in Indonesia use social apps like Facebook daily, and 98% of these users communicate via messaging apps daily. YouTube is ranked top 1 app measured by daily active users.
  • Widespread AdBlock usage
58% of internet users in Indonesia use ad blockers, which is more than five times as much as a global adblock penetration rate of 11%. This leads to ineffectiveness of traditional forms of advertising.
  • Boom of native ads
Meanwhile, an overwhelming majority of the publishers (76,7%) expect native ads to contribute more than half of their revenues next year. According to polls, 16% of brands will allocate more than 50% of their media budgets to native ads.
  • Influencer and Peer to peer marketing is on the rise
Nearly two-thirds of internet users in Indonesia use Facebook to follow influencers. Besides Facebook, 52% use other social networks and 47% use YouTube to keep up with what influencers are doing. Peer to peer recommendations, paid placements and even posts sponsored by a popular chain of stores “7-Eleven” with reward points are already a common thing.

How AdHive acts

A part of our team headed by the Co-founder Dmitry Malyanov spent more than a week in Jakarta negotiating with dozens of influencers, advertising agencies, advertisers themselves and other digital market professionals. One of the results is that AdHive is signing agreements with 3 agencies, that are meant to attract a broad number of influencers and advertisers to the platform along with promoting and rising awareness. Why 3 agencies? They focus on different regions of Indonesia and have diverse pools of local bloggers, which gives AdHive a perfect opportunity to understand the whole market and successfully do business there.

Moreover, AdHive is preparing events in Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang and Bandung dedicated to influencer marketing. It is the best way to make a deep dive into local specifics, receive personal feedback from influencers and promote the Platform.

We are also in a process of hiring qualified staff to work in our new office in Jakarta. Oops, didn’t we mention it? We opened an office in Jakarta and already have a number of employees engaged in the Platform promotion, but we are still looking for an experienced Indonesian business development manager, so if you have someone who can handle it under you radar — don’t hesitate and let us know!
