There is no innovation without education, and for this reason education is a core part of AdLedger’s mission.

Today we are pleased to announce the release of our Fraud in OTT report, a resource we hope will help highlight the opportunities and expose the threats of this exciting new medium.

How can advertisers take advantage of OTT to expand incremental reach? What is driving the growth of this new advertising channel? What fraud seeping in and what steps can we take to mitigate it?

The trend of consumers moving to video streaming services from traditional cable subscriptions shows no signs of slowing down. According to eMarketer, the average US household has increased from 1.7 subscription video on demand (SVOD) services in 2015 to 2.8 services in 2018.

And marketers are following the eyeballs. In addition to enabling incremental reach for consumers who have moved to streaming services, it allows them to apply robust, data-driven planning, targeting and measurement methodologies from the digital ecosystem to television — a medium traditionally considered to be more difficult to buy and limited to only rudimentary targeting and measurement techniques.

As with any emerging technology, there are obstacles. We sought the expertise of our members at the forefront of OTT to provide insight and expand on lessons learned. The result is an all-encompassing resource that deciphers how fraud occurs in OTT, how it is bought and sold, and the new opportunities it presents for advertisers and publishers.

“As the industry continues to have ebbs and flows, and the currents of how to get the most ROI change, clients are increasingly eager to incorporate platforms like digital and connected television inventory into their campaigns,” said Tim Ringel, Global CEO, Reprise. “With OTT, they get the best of both worlds: the value of television and efficiency of digital.”
