AdLunam Monthly Report October
🔥🎃Uptober is often the best month for cryptocurrencies, and the month proved this once again 📈. Wild swings in the market turned to hope as the green ‘greed’ meter kept rising. Cooling inflation numbers and macroeconomic positives redirected funds entering the industry so much so that the eagerly anticipated ETF’s are a whisker away from reality.
$430.56 Million USD was raised across 112 funding rounds. Doubling down on delivering value, investors funded DeFi and Blockchain Services categories. GameFi seems to have lost steam though investments were slightly higher than September. A16Z was the top lead investor with 25 lead investments out of 32 total, followed by Polychain Capital with 21 Lead chain investments out of 25 in October 2023 . Polygon Fund and Coinbase Ventures lead the pack with 42 total investments each. Seed Stage investments were at a staggering 40.88% collectively in October. Seeds today bear fruit tomorrow, so a quarter or two from now, we should be seeing more launches from AdLunam!

“AdLunam as a company is in the business of protecting retail investors. This is not just an idle company mission statement but shapes the very foundation upon which each of the cofounders and every member of the AdLunam team base our individual and collective contributions to the industry. Being a builder in the web3 space means aligning yourself with the ethos of the technology, or you have no business being in web3.
True decentralisation might be difficult to achieve, but transparency and fairness is a goal that’s not only achievable, but non-negotiable — provided that you’re using the technology because you believe it offers society a better chance than what web2 gave the world. When companies abuse retail investors in the name of web3 because the lack of regulatory oversight allows them to get away with malpractice — especially of a criminal nature — it’s our responsibility as guardians of the technology, and the industry that’s being built around it, to ensure that bad actors are exposed and brought to justice.
One FTX is one too many. The fallout of the fraud perpetrated by SBF and team proved devastating to the industry. So we need to ask ourselves how many individuals who dealt with FTX and Alameda knew something was amiss and chose to look the other way.
As much as we’re bullish on the future, we can’t afford to look the other way when we come face to face with wilful irregularities being perpetrated by industry players. The future of web3 as an industry, crypto as an alternative asset class, and blockchain as a technology, depends on the commitment of all of us to keep crypto clean and fix web3 in order to ensure safety in the space for current and future retail investors.
To that end, Jason Fernandes, AdLunam co-founder and I have brought to light serious fraud allegations against well-known NFT marketplace Rarible, and NFT domains company Unstoppable Domains. Cybersecurity firm Match Systems have validated our findings that auctions co-hosted by these two organisations violate the Rarible platform rules (see Match Systems report here).
