Wesley Matthews Continues to Better the Dallas Community
Wesley Matthews, a shooting guard for the Dallas Mavericks, is one of the most charitable players in the NBA. He is regularly seen volunteering and making an impact in the community.
Last Monday the Mavs hosted their “Winter Warm-up Drive” to collect gently used coats, blankets and other warm items that will help those in need this winter. As usual, Matthews was there taking the time time support a good cause.
Last month, Matthews supported military members during “Hoops for Troops Commitment to Service Day’. Prior to the Thanksgiving, he spent time distributing food so families had everything they needed to have a great holiday meal. In December, he will take part in more community events celebrating the holiday season including the Mavs “Dinner with Santa,” where the team will spread holiday cheer to young people in the Dallas area.
Matthews looked back on what his goal was when he first signed with Dallas. “One of the big things my team and I looked at is how can we make the community better,” he said. This is something that he believes in and the time he spends making an impact in the community support that.
