Adulting Submissions Guidelines
Invite us inside of your nitty gritty journey towards finally growing up
Submission Guidelines
Pre-modern societies knew nothing of “adolescence” and established the age of adulthood somewhere near puberty. Today, brain imaging studies demonstrate that the human brain is in growth-mode until at least age twenty five.
On the “nurture” side of things, in our ultra-modern 21st century, I believe that we stop far short of teaching our offspring the actual skills they need to build healthy, happy and meaningful lives. We teach so many other things, but not these essential things. This blog is about those skills.
What We Publish
Adulting publishes detailed, first-hand accounts of your personal process of growing up. Whether you are 22 or 102, growing up is a life-long journey. At Adulting, we want to hear about it.

Writing Guidelines
- At this time we accept both published and unpublished drafts.
- Titles must be title-case, and subtitles must be sentence-case — with a featured image below it. If you are not sure about the format of your title, you can use a Title Case Converter.
- Please edit before submitting your piece Read your story out loud before you hit publish. Write short and clear sentences, let the reader breathe. We will reject submissions with too many grammar mistakes.
- Image: Your submission must have an image with a horizontal aspect ratio (not square, not vertical). Use high-quality images in your posts. Remember to credit properly the images you use. You must have the legal right and permission to use it. Failing to do this is a cause of rejection of your piece. If it’s your own picture, add a credit like this “Image courtesy of the Author”.
