All systems go for children’s literacy
Like a Photon Creative (LAPC) was formed by Kristen Souvlis and Nadine Bates - both experts in children’s content across television, publishing and digital entertainment. LAPC became the third Australian company to produce for Sesame Street USA with Kristen and Nadine becoming the first Australian female producers for the channel. We talked to Managing Director Kristen Souvlis about their joyful, creative culture and the duo’s plans to take on the world with new app, KINDERGO.
So tell us about your idea…
The KINDERGO platform aims to become the premier reading tool in educational facilities around Australia for children aged two to seven years. KINDERGO provides a reader-driven experience using different modes of reading - Read to Me; Read Together; and Tap & Hear. Each book offers multiple levels of interaction, allowing kids to improve over multiple books or to get better at reading as they read their favourite over and over again. KINDERGO content is already in the marketplace, including on Virgin Australia’s inflight entertainment system.
How will the Advance Queensland Ignite Ideas Round 3 funding help your idea to develop?
The Advance Queensland Ignite Ideas Fund grant will help KINDERGO commercialise and we can then take it to the world. We’ll be targeting parents, schools, kindergartens and English as a Second Language (ESL) centres.
Let’s say I’d like to work for your company. What do I need to know?
We value fun, joy, quality, creativity and successful outcomes. We’re not clock watchers and we like people to have flexibility.
