Opening the dialogue about diversity and bullying for early learners.

Women’s History Month is an exciting celebration of the contributions that women have made to history, culture, and society. And women all across the globe are making contributions every day in all aspects of life.

One such woman is who is blazing her own path is a self-published and award-winning author, Claudia Villarreal.

Claudia was born in Laredo, Texas, and raised in Zapata, a small South Texas border community. She graduated from Zapata High School and went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M International University. After obtaining an alternative teaching certification, Ms. Villarreal became a Special Education teacher in various school districts in both Texas and California.

Claudia wears many hats: from educator to entrepreneur to professional actress to children’s book author. Her first children’s book, The Alphabet Thief Who Stole the Vowels, has sold close to 25,000 copies to date.

In 2018, Claudia started penning what become her second book. The Bully Who Learned to Love was published in 2019. The goal of Ms. Villarreal’s latest endeavor is to help open dialogue about diversity and bullying.

“This book is a celebration of the teachers who go above and beyond to promote acceptance,” says Villarreal. “Some people may look or act differently. What about those that speak other languages or learn in different ways? This book has already helped thousands of kids understand these differences and that it’s good to be kind.”

Claudia Villarreal applies her experiences as an elementary school teacher as well as her time spent in classrooms and libraries when authoring her books. Illustrator Michael Koch’s vibrant artwork enhances the meaningful theme of diversity while also adding charm to the transformation of the bully.

The book targets readers ages 4–8, however, it’s a great lesson for any person of any age. It’s a wonderful tool to help teachers and parents open meaningful dialogue about the importance of kindness and diversity.

Adventure 2 Learning is proud to partner with Ms. Villarreal to offer our audience exclusive access to these books. To purchase copies for your school, library, or home, please visit: https://bit.ly/3thhNYr 📖
