Following our road trip that ended with Shirakawa-go in Japan, we made a short jump over to South Korea for two weeks. The first time we were in Korea was 2014. We visited Seoul, Jeju, Busan, and Daegu with Yuki’s parents, the last city being where Yuki’s father was born.

While the last time was a sightseeing trip, this time we came to Korea to take a break from Japan. We both wanted to spend a long time in Japan, but Canadians are only allowed to stay up to 90 days. So after three months… it was time to leave.

We decided to hop over to South Korea for two weeks and then go to Okinawa, Japan afterwards. During those two weeks in Korea, we hung around Incheon and Seoul. We didn’t actually end up doing much sightseeing and spent most of our time sleeping in and staying home.

The one big day we had was to go out for a Taylor Swift-inspired photoshoot.

Yuki is a hardcore Swiftie and we booked not one, nor two, but three dates for Taylor’s Reputation concerts. It all started back in November when we got tickets for one show in Toronto, right before our Caribbean cruise. Later on, Yuki insisted on going to a show in Boston so we booked some overnight buses and made it happen. It just happens that Taylor Swift is hosting two back-to-back concerts in Toronto and Yuki felt that she had to go to both. So now we’re going to three Swift concerts in July and August!

For these concerts, Yuki prepared two outfits based on Taylor Swift music videos. The first is from Delicate which you really should watch:

We started in the subway at Seoul station, followed by City Hall, then we went to Gyeongbokgung, which is Seoul’s grand palace. Lastly, we went to the Dongdaemun eastern gate of the city wall.

See if you recognize some of these poses from the music video.

Seoul is the first place we’ve been where there are a noticeable number of creepy older men that stare at young girls. They’ll walk right between Yuki and me while I’m taking a photo… to stare at Yuki in her outfit.

Overall, it was a pretty successful photoshoot and we’re hoping to do more like it in the next countries we visit until we get to the concerts!
