Through a stroke of unexpected luck and timing, we ended up back in Bangkok for Chinese Yew Year yet again. Although it was unplanned, it was nice to be back for the holiday and partake in the tradition of laying out a meal to our ancestors and praying for good things in the future.

In addition, we ended up having a seafood dinner in Chinatown on Chinese New Year’s Eve and then picked up Chinese costumes to wear to our nephew Jack’s school performance. Yuki and Mallika looked absolutely gorgeous in their dresses.

One of the things I love so much about Bangkok is that there’s always something new to discover. On this trip we went to another luxury mall and also biked around a park island. It was quite hot out so we only did one loop around before heading indoors for cool drinks and air conditioning.

While at one of the malls, Yuki and I stumbled upon a Thai Supermodel Contest show. The live performance was being recorded for Channel 7; we got see the winners from previous years and witnessed over 100 contestants this year being whittled down to just 20.

Before we knew it, our two weeks in Thailand were over. Up next is three weeks in Australia and then three months in Japan. After that, we’ll return to Bangkok for one last month before ending our trip and returning to Canada. The end of our two-year world trip is in sight and is frighteningly close. Before, we’ve always known that we’d be back to Thailand again and again, but we’ve now suddenly come to realize that we’ll only be back once more. After that, who knows when we’ll be back next?

For now, we have a lot planned to keep us busy… but we can’t help feeling a little sad that the trip is coming to a close.
