On Sunday, we did our first real hike with Kevin and Dad. Brian Beulah came along too and met us in the Cypress Nordic parking lot. This was my second time up Hollyburn Mt. (first here) and a better trip. The last time I came up I had to hike up the mountain from Cleveland Dam. This time we drove up which saved a lot of effort.

The trail was pretty muddy in places and not everyone had good hikers but we managed through it without too much difficulty.

Near the top we hit snow. That’s always fun because it’s easier to walk and one can go anywhere, including off the trail. It’s also good for sliding which we did on the way down as well as snow ball fights. Yuki wasn’t impressed though, because Kevin used her as a shield.

The top is rocky and usually gets pretty busy in the summer. It wasn’t too bad today but there was still a steady stream of hikers going up and down. The snow had melted the main ridge so the rock was exposed for us to sit on while we ate our lunch. This mountain has a pretty good view around in all four compass directions. Cloud cover shielded us from seeing the Lions but we saw a juvenile Eagle up close which made up for it.
