This past Friday some friends and I went to the #PulseTO light installation. It is an array of 3,000 lights in an empty warehouse building which flicker with the recorded heart rates of the visitors. Designed by Mexican-Canadian media artist, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer and hosted by the Bentway, the installation was a great Friday night activity and it was free.

The installation goes in as a group for about 45 minutes which is enough to enjoy the space without lingering too long. There are a few places where a sensor measures your heart beat and show it with the lights.

At first the installation reminded me a little of TeamLabs in Tokyo but it wasn’t nearly as sophisticated or immersive. That said, it was still a lot of fun and a good time, especially because I was able to get some friends to come with me.
