Well after camping at Elfin Lakes I thought I’d have a video to make but GoPro Studio crashed on import and deleted all the video. So instead, this is a quick post on the last two weekends.

The first weekend we went for a drive around Vancouver (of favourite pastime) and ended up at Stanley Park where we took some photos of the Bridge.

The next weekend we picked up some new hiking boots for Yuki that are waterproof and went snow shoeing on Cypress. She’s be walking in leaking hiking shoes and snow boots for a long time so these were well over due.

The original weather forecast didn’t look that good with rain and moderately high temperatures. It didn’t turn out that way and it was a blizzard when we arrived.

We snowshoed up Hollyburn ridge. Snowshoes weren’t really required because the trail is so well treaded but I used them anyways. The compact trail makes for great tobogganing on the way down. Because the trail is more compact it creates a U shaped trench like a luge track and because the hill is quite steep at the top we got going very quick. The blizzard made for a difficult time seeing and a few times we blew into snowbanks so hard that we got covered in snow and got brain freezes. Racing down the mountain made it all worthwhile. I think we tobogganed more than we walked down.

Unfortunately the weather was so cold that our phones shut off so we weren’t able to get any video or photo. Afterwards, we’d find out that Cypress got over 50 cm on the weekend and Whistler got 150! Wow! I’m hoping we can get out there again soon!
