Although we spent 10 days in Menorca, we didn’t actually do very much. At all. Located northeast of the busy party islands of Ibiza and Mallorca, the island of Menorca is known for its quiet atmosphere. This was just what we wanted after many busy stops in London, Munich, and Tunisia.

We found ourselves a nice AirBnB and settled in for a glorious staycation. Although we had picked the spot for a beautiful little pool and a spectacular horseshoe-shaped beach, we spent most days inside and only left our place to forage for food.

Menorca is popular during the summer, but it was deadly quiet in October. We stayed in an area called Arenal d’en Castell, which has a great beach in the bay. Only a few other tourists can be found scattered around the little village and like us, they bounced between the six or so restaurants depending on which one was open on the day in question.

During fall it was a little cool for us to be swimming in the pool or the ocean so we didn’t get to take advantage of those perks. In the summer, we’re sure it would be a spectacular place to swim and we would have gone everyday!

As well as swimming, there are some hiking trails that meander along the coast and provide picturesque scenes. Sunset was especially pretty. If you find yourself looking for a quiet retreat for fall in Europe, look no further!
