Ancient City is probably best described as an architectural theme park. It is a collection of historic and recreated buildings from the past as well as unique, original monuments. Some of the buildings are life-size while others are miniaturized but still large enough to walk through. There are 120 points of interest on a property that roughly resembles the shape of Thailand.

The first time Yuki came to the park was as a high school student on a field trip. She recalls how agonizingly hot it was that day, to be trucking around the enormous park. This time, fortunately, we were able to take our car into the park so we had air conditioning in-between photo stops. It’s also possible to rent a golf cart, which is more expensive than driving your own car, or to rent a bicycle for free.

The park is so large that we were only able to drive around half of the park and stop at even fewer spots. The ones we saw were still pretty impressive and would be great for a real photoshoot.

If we were to return, we would want to dress up in traditional Thai costumes. That would elevate the photos even more. I imagine that it would also be a great sunrise or sunset photo-shooting location and I hope we get a chance to come back in the future to see the other half of the park.
