Take a Ride Around the Lazy River

Over the course of our travels we’ve had the experience of returning to a previously visited city or country a few times — most recently with our second trip to New York City. Sometimes it’s hard to find things to do in a subsequent visit because we’ve already hit all the highlights, but sometimes there’s an advantage to returning as it allows us get to the things we missed last time.

The Holiday Inn Resort Vana Nava in Hua Hin was one of those places. Last time we visited Hua Hin we considered staying at the Holiday Inn but chose a cheaper AirBnB instead. This time we got the Holiday Inn specifically so that we could visit the attached water park, which is included in the price of the hotel room.

At the time Bangkok was having the worst air quality in history, which forced the closure of over 400 schools right before Chinese New Year. Many families used this opportunity to go on holiday, and for our family, it was an overnight trip down to Hua Hin.

The water park is quite large, consisting of an imitation beach with artificial waves, pools, over 10 water slides, a lazy river, surf zone, kids zone, and more. We spent most of our time on the slides and the lazy river.

On the morning of the second day, we went to check out the rooftop pool on the 26th floor. It would have given us an amazing view if it weren’t smoggy but, alas, the horizon blurred into the sky.

The rooftop pool is quite large and has an infinity edge. It was a little too cold for us to swim in in the morning because the sun couldn’t penetrate through the smog, so we went back to the waterpark to “get our money’s worth”.

From the rooftop pool, we could see several other resorts and hotels that also had some interesting pools. We may have to check them out in the future.
